摘要
晚清兴办学堂面临新式教科书缺乏,为新小说介入教科书提供了契机。新小说理论家对小说教育的鼓吹以及作家有意识地撰译小说为教科之助,使小说辅助教育成为现实。小说履行教科书职能是新小说开智觉民宗旨的推进。
New textbooks were in great shortage in modem schools in the late Qing Dynasty, which provided opportunities for the neo-novels to be introduced for educational purpose. The advocating of novel theorists and the practice of novelists to write and to translate novels as textbooks made novel education come true. This was an advance of late Qing novels which had been aimed to enlighten the people.
