科林斯的"第三波"理论试图挽救被SSK所破坏了的科学知识的专业性形象,在建构论的基础上重新恢复科学在社会领域中的内行性质。"第三波"构建了不同于默顿科学社会学和SSK的"专家知识"概念体系,将科学的建构特质与内行特质整合起来,并基于此回答了困扰学界的"延伸问题"。第三波为人们反思默顿社会科学与社会建构论之间的关系,以及科学的社会研究的未来发展提供了新思路。

Theory of the third wave of science studies provided by Harry Collins tries to rescue the professional im- age of science which has been destroyed by SSK, to restore the expert nature of science based on Constructivism. ＂The third wave＂ constructs a concept system of expertise which is different from both sociology of science of Metton and SSK, it combines both the constructive and professional natures of science, and successfully answers ＂the question of problem of extension＂ which has perplexed the academic circle for a long time. Theory of the third wave provides us new ides to rethink the relation of Merton sociology of science and SSK and the future development Of science studies.
