In various styles of English, adjective nominalization has its frequent appearance, displaying the ideational, in- terpersonal, and textual function. By means of nominalization, adjectives or adjective elements can be used to symbolize the objective things or events. Nominalized adjectives can present a reasonable and objective image, obscuring the relation be- tween speaker or writer and relevant descriptions, which may affect the audience＇s attitude and response. In situational con- text, nominalized adjectives can condense the relevant information in the previous clause and bring forward a new concept which may set the foundation for continualdevelopment of the discourse. Adjective nominalization can enhance the objectivi- ty of the text and strengthen the coherence and cohesion of the discourse.
