On Poem Translation under the Principle of "Three Aesthetic Pursuits"and from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory——A Case Study of Du Fu′s poem On the Height

杜甫《登高》英译本通过适当的用词、长短音的运用和句式的排列尽量贴近原诗悲壮的意境,通过头韵尾韵的运用和句子长短的控制,以aabbccdd贯穿整诗,在形式和语篇幅度等方面都顺应了原文的简洁而不失韵味,顺应了目的语读者的读诗环境以及社会、生理和心理上的特征,达到了成功进行文化交际的目的。

Poetry is one of the most important parts of a nation＇s culture, and poetry translation is an indispensable part of cross-culture communication. In consideration of the specialty of poetry translation, the theory of ＂three aesthetic pursuits＂ which was advanced by Xu Yuanchong together with the adaptation theory proposed by J. Ver - sehueren can be best uti- lized to guide poetry translation. By taking the translated version of a traditional Chinese poem ＂On the Height＂, and from the perspective of ＂three aesthetic pursuits＂ theory as well as the structural objects of adaptability theory, the characteris- tics of poem translation can be better explained.
