On December 4th, 2012, the Senior Tibetan Buddhist College of Chinain Beijing held its 8th degree award ceremony for Tibetan Buddhist studies at the Xihuang Temple. Eleven outstanding academic monks from the Gelug and Sagya Sects have passed six days of intense academic oral examination in dissertation and scripture studies to finally be conferred with the highest academic degree, Thorampa, which is recognized as expressing a rich quality of knowledge in Tibetan Buddhist studies.
