中医术语“衷中参西”翻译方法探讨——以“肝着”英译为例

Approach to Translation Methods for Chinese Medical Terms Based on "Combination of East and West":Translation of "Gan Zhuo" as an Example

术语的准确翻译是中医翻译的前提和关键。认为中医术语的翻译应采用"衷中参西"的方法,"衷中"即分析术语的确切内涵,"参西"是考查备选词汇的英文含义,再结合中西医学的差异确定相应的译文。并以"肝着"英译为例进行分析。

Accurate translation of terms is the premise and key of Chinese medicine translation.The translation method named as ＂combination of East and West＂ can be adopted in the translation of Chinese medical terms.The method analyzes the exact connotations of terms in Chinese medicine and investigates the English meaning of alternative words,and then decides in the final translation on the basis of the differences between Chinese and western medicine.The translation of ＂Gan Zhuo＂ is presented as an example.
