在中日"满洲交涉"中,《顺天时报》不惜牺牲多年来因"呼吁立宪改革"积攒的声誉,想方设法为日本辩解;并且针对清朝上下国民心理,展开"理"与"势"的分析,诱导、迫使国人让步。这是日本民间团体的在华报纸,首次在中日两国的冲突中扮演重要角色,其言论策略影响了后来日本侵华时期的在华媒体。

In ＂Manchuria Negotiations＂, for the sake of defending for Japan, the Shuntian Times, a Japanese newspaper in China had even sacrificed their reputation on appealing to constitutional reform for years. Meanwhile, it analyzed the psychology of the whole country and explained the reasons and situations on the newspaper to induce Chinese people to make concession. It was the first non-official Japanese-run newspapers played an important part in the conflict between China and Japan. And their speech strategy had deeply influenced the late Japanese media in China during the period of Japanese invasion.
