Qi Rushan and the Social Life History Research of Beijing

齐如山是近代的民间文化学者,传统经史功底深厚,又兼备近代西学。他在新史学的学术背景下,将研究目光投向北京社会生活史这一新生领域,研究范围触及到北京社会生活的方方面面。在传统考据的基础上,他又十分注重社会考察,以"不由恒蹊"的治学思想,先后完成十余部著作及大量文章,形成了自己的研究特色。

Qi Rushan was an amateur scholar whose extensive knowledge ranged both past and present, and both Chinese and Western. At the academic background of new historiography, Qi Rushan particularly focused on the social life history research of Beijing, involving many factors of the social life. Meanwhile, he had paid attention to study social conditions based on the traditional textual research to complete more than 10 books and large amounts of articles under his thought of ＇Bu You Heng Xi＇, and formed his own characteristics.
