摘要
《西区故事》是美国百老汇音乐剧中为数不多的"歌剧式"音乐剧。这部剧作音乐创作最明显的技术特征在于以"核心动机"为"细胞"将全剧音乐"组织"成为高度统一的整体。本文以探析"核心动机"与各个唱段及音乐段落主题的内在关联及其在不同音乐情节中的变化、衍生和发展为切入点,归结作曲家应用整体性音乐创作思维来结构大型戏剧音乐作品的实践意义与经验。
West Side Story is the minority of the Broadway musicals because it was formed in the so call'opera musical'.The music of this musical is distinguished by the using of the'core motive'technique which builds all the themes and the elements of music as a whole.In this article,the internal relations among the'core motive'and the themes of the songs also the instrumental music in this musical would be analysed carefully so that the creative thinking of Bernstein in composing this music could be understood clearly.Meantime,his composing technique based on the entire thinking will be revealed for reference and study.
