Li Qingzhao and Zhu Shuzhen, Ci poetesses in the Song Dynasty, have been often mentioned in the same breath in the literacy circles. However, they held many differences between their literary styles. Li Qingzhao＇s Ci poetry carried much freshness and novelty; Zhu Shuzhen＇s lyrics were endowed with more tenderness and fascination. Li Qing- zhao was more restrained and deep in her writing; Zhu Shuzhen was much frank and intense. What＇s more, Li paid more attention to the thought of intellectuals and Zhu was skilled at painting feminity. The differences were formed from varied experiences, life circumstances and personalities of the both. Li＇s works held more master demeanor and lofty spirit; but Zhu gave more pictures of beauty and feminity. Superiority or inferiority in achievements, both the poetesses have left us gorgeous pieces of their own charms.
