Eulogy and Elegy in Flute——the "Flute" Image in Skywalker by Liu Xinglong

"笛声"是中国文学中的一个传统意象,当代作家刘醒龙在其长篇小说《天行者》中延续着对这一意象的抒写。在他笔下,"笛声"被赋予多重的情感内涵:或是乡村启蒙的坚守;或是纯粹情感的诉求;或是现实体制的讽喻。透过刘醒龙笔下的"笛声"意象,既可以窥探出中国乡村民办教师的生存遭际和精神困境,又可以展现作者对乡村精神启蒙的深刻反思。

Flute is a traditional image in the Chinese literature, which the contemporary writer Liu Xinglong continued in his novel Skywalker. In his writing, flute was endowed with multiple emotional connotations： a stick to the rural illumination, a pure emotional appeal, or an allegory of realistic system. Through Liu Xinglong＇s flute im- age, we not only can pry into China rural teachers＂ survival fate and spiritual dilemma, but also can know about the profound reflection on rural spiritual enlightenment revealed by the author.
