The traditional Chinese opera in the novels of the Ming and Qing dynasties adopted image to make the figures of the literary works more prominent in character.The image of leng xiang wan in A Story of Red Mansions,which reached the acme of Chinese classic novels,plays a key role in fully understanding Xue Baocai whose character is full of contradiction and complexity.It is manifested in the function of metaphoric symbol,conveyance of thought and feeling and figure character,making the artistic image of Xue Baocai more bright in the figures of literature in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
