Basic Theories of Marxism are Indispensable for Reform and Development

马克思主义基本理论始终是共产党人和社会主义事业的根基。在传统社会主义时代,由于没有完全以马克思主义基本理论为指导,使走上社会主义道路的国家毫无例外地遇到了困难和挫折,乃至发生大面积道路转向。我国改革和发展的已有实践证明,由于我们坚持以马克思主义基本理论为指导,纠正了超阶段的错误,才开始走上了新型的合乎规律的中国特色社会主义道路;而改革和发展中出现的带有总体性和普遍性的偏差和失误,都和我们(首先是理论界)对马克思主义基本理论的轻蔑和偏离有关。今后的改革和发展更需要理论创新,但始终离不开马克思主义基本理论的指导。

Basic theories of Marxism have always been the fundamentals ibr the communists and ior the cause of socialism. In the era of traditional socialism, due to the lack of guidance from Marxist basic theories, all countries taking the socialist path encountered without exception difficulties, setbacks, even widespread U -turns. The practice of reform and development in our country prove that only because we upheld basic theories of Marxism as guiding rules and corrected mistakes of overstep stages, did we begin to march on the new and logical path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. All errors and mistakes that has overall and universal features in the course of reform and development correlate with our （firstly the theoretical circle＇ s ） contempt of and deviation from basic theories of Marxism. Although future reform and development are in stronger need for theoretical innovations, they can never advance without the guidance from basic theories of Marxism.
