马克思主义在中国的传播经历了几个不同的历史时期,各个时期有着不同的历史特点。这种特点表现在:开始是对马克思主义观点、著作片断或章节的翻译与传播,继而是对马克思主义单篇著作摘编或单篇著作的翻译与传播,接着是编译"马克思恩格斯丛书"、"列宁选集"、"干部必读"等马克思主义著作。中华人民共和国成立后,则开始有计划地翻译出版《马克思恩格斯全集》、《列宁全集》、《斯大林全集》等。马克思主义的传播过程,也是同中国共产主义运动相结合的过程。
