Based on the summarization on experiences from the construction of underground hydropower station, the relevant innovations and improvements are made for the technologies for excavation of cavern in accordance with the characteristics of the construction of the underground cavern of Three Gorges Project such as large excavation difficulty, complicated construc- tion process, etc. The study achievement can provide some experiences and references for the excavation of large-sized cav- ern project.
