Disciplinary Content-based Graduate-level Teaching of Public English

目前我国专业硕士在国际交流中缺少话语权的一个根本原因是研究生公共英语教学与专业培养目标相脱节。文章首先明确专业学位旨在培养应用型高层次专门人才,然后分析培养专业硕士英语交流能力的必要性,并归纳我国研究生公共英语教学中存在的主要问题,最后提出以学科内容为依托开展专业学位研究生公共英语教学的具体建议。

It is often difficult for Chinese professionals to get their voice heard internationally because English teaching for graduate students fails to relate to their disciplinary studies. This paper, after analyzing the necessity of developing students＇ English communicative skills based on the content of their respective disciplines, summarizes the problems in public English teaching at the graduate level in China, and puts forward some suggestions for improvement accordingly.
