Effects of Cultural Accumulation on Short-term Memory in Interpreting

口译信息加工与笔译相比,其最大的特征在于可供译者思考(信息加工)的时间非常短暂。译者的L1和L2语言文化知识水平,以及译者的个体文化人格与个体文化心理结构都将直接造成口译文化水平和效果的差异。通过对文化积淀的重要作用的阐述,以及口译过程中短时记忆与信息加工的探讨,提出了解背景知识,丰富文化积淀对口译过程中的短时记忆有不容忽视的重要作用。

Compared with translation,interpreting is mostly characterized by the short term of thinking(information processing).Interpreter’s cultural and language knowledge of both L1 and L2,his individualized cultural personalities and cultural psychological structure,all of these will make a difference in the effects of interpreting.Based on a description of the importance of cultural accumulation,the paper explored the short-term memory and information processing of interpreting,and pointed out that the knowledge of background information and a rich cultural accumulation play an important role in the short-term memory in the process of interpreting.
