Objective: To investigate the sensorimotor activity/locomotor activity, emotion disorders and the object-recognition capability of APPswe/PS1dE9 double transgenic (Tg) mice. Methods: Open field test (OFT) and novel object recognition test (NORT) were performed in APPswe/PS 1 dE9 double transgenic mice and their age- and gender-matched wild type (wt) littermates at 6 months (female, male) and 12 months (male) of age re- spectively. Results: Compared to their controls, only 12 month-old Tg mice showed hypoactivity and increased anxiety profile in the OFT (P〈0.05). No significant differences between the Tg and wt mice had been detected in the NORT. Conclusion: APPswe/PS1dE9 double Tg mice can preferably recapitulate some behavioral and psychological phenotypes of AD patients, and hence provide a valuable tool to explore the pathogenesis and effective therapeutic strategies of AD.
