张芝“匆匆不暇草书”本义考辨

A Discussion of the Original Meaning of ZhangZhi’s “Congcong Buxia Caoshu”

东汉张芝"匆匆不暇草书"语义,自唐迄今,众说纷纭。其中,绝大多数以"匆匆,不暇草书"断句,且多解为"因匆忙来不及写草书",部分则解为"因匆忙来不及起草"等,均与原文语境扞格不通。本文通过对文句的语义与语境辨析,结合书信与书法的文化考察,认为"匆匆不暇草书"当断句为"匆匆不暇,草书",它是张芝对书信采用草书书写及书写或有未足的解释之辞,是示敬自谦的书信客套用语。

Up to now there are different interpretations on this sente nce of'C ongcong B uxia Cao shu'whic h was used by eastern han dynasty Zhang Zhi.A common explain about it is' for hasty this writing isn’t in cursive script'.Besides,some scholars think it shuld be read as'for hasty there is no time for draft',and so on.However,these views are wrong for they are in contraction with the context.Though semantic,contextual and cultural analysis,this thesis consider this senten ceshould be punctuateas 'cong congbuxia,caoshu'.It was a conventional remark of letters and was used to explain why he writed in cursive and pointed out that writing existed shortcomings.
