The Social Status of Yin Remnants in Fengxi Region and its Changes

本文通过对沣西地区西周时期周人与殷遗民墓葬特征的比较,探讨了殷遗民的社会地位及其变迁。指出周人与殷遗民在埋葬时各自采用自己的方式彰显身份地位,殷遗民在埋葬习俗上本来具有一套不同于周人的传统,但这些传统在西周中期以后随着殷遗民社会地位的降低,逐渐减少或消失不见。

This paper studies the status of Yinyimin （Remnants of the Shang Dynasty） in Fengxi region together with the changes of their status by comparing the mortuary practices with that of Zhott people. The author points out that Yin rem- nants and Zhou people were distinguished by their own ways showing and representing social status of their own. In other words, the Yin remnants had adopted a salient set of burial practices different from the Zhou people. But after the Middle Western Zhou period, these practices were gradually gone to diminish and disappear coming on the heel of the decline of Yin remnants＇ status.
