Human driving forces behind agricultural oasis expansion in Minle County,Gansu Province in the past 60 years

近60年民乐县农业绿洲在波动中不断扩张.基于实地访谈和统计数据,借助遥感资料,定性分析了民乐县农业绿洲扩张的人文驱动机制.研究认为人文因素是农业绿洲扩张的主要驱动力,而在不同历史阶段和社会经济背景下,农业绿洲扩张的主导人文驱动机制不同.1949-1980年人口增长主导扩张,1981-2003年家庭联产承包责任制和人口增长共同主导扩张,而2004年以来是经济利益主导扩张.

Agricultural oasis in Minle County has been expanded continuously in the past 60 years, though with some fluctuations. Based on field interviews, statistical data and GIS data, this paper analyzed the human driving forces behind the agricultural oasis expansion in Minle County. It was argued that human factors including population growth, change in agricultural operation system and related policies, and economic benefits have played a decisive role in oasis expansion. The dominant human driving factors varied according to socioeconomic contexts. From 1949 to 1980, the dominant driving force was population growth, whereas the dominant driving forces from 1981 to 2003 were ＇changes in agricultural operation system and population growth. Since 2004, the dominant force has been economic benefit.
