大学精神是一所学校的灵魂和生命,是校园文化长期沉淀形成的精髓。而"诚"是当今社会的共同价值追求,是人才培养承担的首要任务,是高校学子所应遵循的行为准则,是大学生实现全面发展基本要求。集美大学校主陈嘉庚先生以"诚毅"为校训,对"诚"的内涵作了时代的注脚。高校要从尊重事实、承担责任、保持和谐三个层面实现"诚"的内涵,塑造当代大学精神。

University spirit, the soul and the life of a school, is the long - term accumulation of campus culture. ＂Sincerity＂ is the common pursuit of current society, the primary task of personnel training, the behavior principle for university students, and the basic requirement for students＇ all -round development. Tan Kah -kee, the founder of Jimei University, adopted ＂Sincerity and Fortitude＂ as the school motto, and attached an era footnote to the connotation of ＂sincerity＂. Universities should actualize the connotation of ＂sincerity＂ by respecting facts, shouldering responsibilities and maintaining harmony, so as to shape the contemporary university spirit.
