The novel Frog by Mo Yan was once controversial because it touched on'family planning'.However, both theme selection and political standpoint have very little to do with the achievement of literary narration. What we should focus on is how it shows great respect for the intuition of birth without challenging the rationality of'family planning',thus initiating various contradictions in narration. The novel both displays a post-revolutionary tone by imitating revolutionary text and has profound disposition of humanistic care alarmed by scientist discourse.Meanwhile,it reflects the implement of'family planning'in different contexts of planned economy and market economy. This article attempts to explore the intrinsic conflict from the above three perspectives.
