Defects Morphology Characteristics of EPC Aluminum Alloy Castings

The EPC casting process and the common defects of EPC process-produced aluminum alloy castings were introdueed including： surface pinhole and slag hole,blowhole,slag inclusion,scab;burning-on,raised nubble,shrinkage cavity and pornsity,mold collapse,cold shut and double skin and misrun. The reasons causing various defects were analyzed and the relevant solving measures were introduced. It was pointed out in the end that since the castings with different configuration characteristics often have different requirements in their casting method and process design and maybe also have different defects and therefore it neeessary to adopt different measures to ensure their quality. At the samtime, using proper and qualified produetive equipment and inspective equipment also is the precondition to prevent various defects.
