Taking the residential area as the research object,the paper compares the residential and municipal feedwater design flow formulas,explores the selection for the calculation formulas for feedwater flows in the residential area,and points out the indoor design second flow calculating formula should be adopted when the designed people＇s amount is less than critical amount,while the flow calculating formula of the municipal pipe network should be used when the designed people＇s number less than the critical amount.
