Translation scholars generally believe that the biggest difference in English and Chinese is Hypotaxis and Para- taxis. The English focus on hypotaxis, showing the meaning through forms, while the Chinese emphasizes parataxis, to con- trol the form by meaning. The paper analyzes differences of English and Chinese sentence structures between the hypotaxis and the parataxis, and states the revelation of this difference on the on translation skills teaching.
