Based on the miserable sentiment in Rashomon, the paper made a simple analysis and research of the novel Ras homon written by Japanese writer Ryunosuke Akutagawa. It made specific analysis of the miserable sentiment from its time and place, tone, events and distorted humanity. Through the analysis, we can see the miserable sentiment had a dramatic func tion which can not be ignored in the development of plots and the embodiment of the subject in the novel.
