威廉姆·罗宾逊强烈反对将温室培育植物摆放到室外展示的花卉应用方式。他推崇植物自然生长状态下的美,提出自然化种植的思想和野生花园的概念。其思想包含可以应用一切适应自然条件的植物和减少人为干预、呈现植物的自然状态2层含义。该思想与"园艺式"风格存在差异,也与规则式花园风格产生过激烈的争论,影响了欧美的园林设计师和现代以植物为特色的花园形式的产生。

William Robinson, who preferred the beauty of plants growing in natural environment and put forward the ideas of naturalized planting and wild garden, argued against the ways of flower showing with plants grown in greenroom. His ideas included applying not only domestic plants but also overseas plants that adapt to England climate, decreasing the influence of man, and preserving natural state of plants. And it was different from 'gardenesque style', and was opposed by formal garden style. It had influence on some European and America landscape architects, and some garden styles, such as wood garden, meadow garden, coastal wild garden, etc.
