美国档案中的早期天津美租界

The American Concession at Tientsin in the Archives of America

目前,国内学界有关天津美租界早期状况的研究较为薄弱,缺少切实可信的材料尤其是档案材料是重要原因。有鉴于此,笔者特拣译美方档案一则,以期有裨于天津美租界早期历史的研究。通过对该档案文件的解读,我们可以对天津美租界的设立时间、设立依据、管理模式、土地获取方式及其"法律地位"有更进一步的了解。

Studies on the early history of the American Concession at Tientsin are relatively weak in China, and the mainly reason for this is the lacking of the documentary materials. To promoting the Chinese study on the American Concession at Tientsin, the author selected and translated a paper which is stored in the U.S. National Archives. From the paper, we could know much more about the origin, the grant, the administration, the status of the American Concession and the terms on which land was bought in the American Concession.
