生活在超大城市时代的我们,天天都与陌生人打照面。但是这些相遇形成不了可持续的社会关系。虽然城市发展得越来越大,却越来越陌生。原始的我们还是渴望友谊与熟悉的社区生活。李瑞娴摄影师注意到这种隔绝的普遍性造成了我们对网上虚拟社区的上瘾,好象短信能够代替对话或网络头像能够提供安慰。而她的摄影作品记录了在全球最富裕城市里普通发生的隔离化现象。

We live in the era of mega-cities, where everyday millions of strangers interact in the absence of ongoing social relationships. Nevertheless, we still crave companionship and familiar communities, even as our cities continue to boom. Photographer Sarah Li Cain has noticed how increased atomization feeds our common addiction to virtual communities, as if tweets could substitute for conversation and an avatar might offer companionship. Her portraits record the banality of isolation in our richest cities.
