In the Internet age,any public library＇s information resources are limited,and readers’demands for information and knowledge are unlimited. With the popularity and development of Internet,Web service has become an indispensable mode of the services of modern public library. This paper analyzes the significance of carrying out the characteristic services by the public library under the network environment,expounds the forms of the characteristic services of public library under the network environment,and discusses some problems needing attention of the public library in carrying out the characteristic services under the network environment.
