How to Inherit the Heritage of Chinese Traditional Philosophy?——Speaking from Mr.Fung Yu-Lan's Method of Abstract Inheritance

在如何继承中国传统哲学遗产的问题上,中国学术界一直在两个极端——虚无主义和偶像主义——之间滑动。冯友兰先生于1957年提出的所谓"抽象继承法"试图走出这两个极端。我们的研究表明,尽管他提出这种方法的动机是好的,但这种方法仍然是缺乏理据的。合理地继承中国传统哲学的遗产,不仅需要在本体论层面上做出新的思索,也需要超越抽象继承法,重构方法论的基本原则。

As far as ＂how to inherit the heritage of Chinese philosophy＇＂ is concerneo, Chinese academic kingdom always slides between two extremes -- nihilism and idolatry. The method of abstract inheritance put forward by Mr. Fung Yu-Lan in 1957 tried to go out of these two extremes. Although his motive is very good, this method has no theoretical basis. In order to inherit rationally Chinese philosophical heritage, we need not only make new reflection on this problem on ontological level, but also transcend Mr. Fung Yu-Lan＇s method of abstract inheritance, reconstructing basic principles of methodology.
