June 1 is the first anniversary of direct trading between Chinese yuan, or ren- minbi, and Japanese yen. The anniversary comes at a time of strained ties between China and Japan, the world＇s second and third largest economies, and inactive trading between the two currencies. But the yuan＇s internationaliza- tion process has never once slowed, and the use of yuan in the international market continues to grow.
