当前关于大学的第四功能说法颇多,胡锦涛主席在清华建校百年校庆上明确提出文化的传承与创新是高等学校的又一重要功能。而大学应该积极承担起这项艰巨的使命,它是时代发展的需要,也是其内在的必然。本文从历史发展的维度,从结构功能说的视角以及社会分工的理论视角分析了高等学校的第四功能——文化的传承与创新产生的必然性和合理性。

There is quite a lot of parlance about the fourth func- tion of the university, Comrade Hu Jintao put forward clearly that cultural convey and innovation is another important function of colleges and universities at the centennial anniversary of Ts- inghua University.And universities should actively take on this demanding mission, it is the need of the development of the times, but also its inner inevitable. This article analyzed in- evitability and rationality of the fourth function of colleges and u- niversities from the dimension of the historical development, the theory of structure and function and the social division of labor.
