古开口二等韵在现代方言多读开口呼;读齐齿呼者不限于见系声母;还有一些读合口呼;很少数读撮口呼。古合口二等韵除读合口呼外,也有读开、齐、撮的现象。见系声母字的韵头变化较为丰富。

In contemporary Chinese dialects, most of the words from MC 2nd division of Kaikou finals are pronounced without a medial. Still, some are pronounced with a [-i] or [-u] medial, and few with a I-y] medial. Those with a [-i] medial are from MC initials besides Jian ~. Words from MC 2nd division of Hekou finals are usually pronounced with a [-u] medial and still, some are pronounced with a I-i] or I-y] initial while some without a medial at all. The head vowels of words from MC Jian ~_, initial varied diversely.
