Metabolic surgery in treatment of hypertension and type 2 diabetes——Dream or Reality?

我国高血压和血脂异常患者均超过2亿，肥胖和糖尿病患者分别达到7千万和9千万。这几类重大慢病常聚集存在，构成代谢综合征。目前我国代谢综合征的患病率已达15％，上述重大慢病既是心肌梗死、心衰、脑卒中和’肾功能不全的主要危险因素，也是致残和病死的主要原因。

The prevalence of cardiometabolic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes is increasing rapidly in worldwide. The conventional treatments of these diseases are limited due to multiple clusters of cadio- metabolic disturbances. Furthermore, little attention is paid to the relationship between gastrointestinal tract dysfunction and the development of cardiometabolic diseases. In recent years, some clinical studies confirmed that metabolic surgery on gastrointestinal tract could prevent effectively and even cure cardiometabolic disease clinically. Thus, this novel intervention highlights an important role of gastrointestinal tract in the pathogenesis of cardiometabolic diseases, and further implicates metabolic surgery as a potential therapeutic strategy in the treatment of cardiometabolic diseases.
