鄱阳地区地理环境优越,自宋代以来经济富庶,颜真卿、范仲淹等人促进了当地的文化教育。江万里的殉难、理学的盛行使得文人崇尚忠孝节义,元代鄱阳文人辈出,文学创作兴盛。叶氏敦节义、重文学的家族传统与鄱阳地域文化密切相关。

Poyang region has a beautiful natural environment. Since Song Dynasty, it has been a place of economic wealth. YAN Zhen - qing, FAN Zhong -yan and other talents promoted the local culture and education. JIANG Wan - li＇ s martyrdom and the popularity of Neo - Confucianism encouraged literary figures＇ respect of loyalty , filial piety, chastity and righteousness. During Yuan Dynasty, Poyang produced a lot of literary figures, which led to the prosperity of literary creation. And the tradition of Ye family＇s emphasis on chastity and righteousness as well as on literature has close relation with Poyang＇ s regional culture.
