林译小说“思想性误读”根源探析

An Exploration into the Source of Ideological Misreading in the Novels Translated by Lin Shu

林纾及林译小说是中国文学史上一个重要的存在。林译小说在清末民初之所以能成为"畅销书",除了外部的时代社会原因外,最关键的是他出色的译笔和极富林氏特色的"思想性误读"。林译小说中的"思想性误读",根源于他的中西文学相通观及"中体西用"、"以中化西"的矛盾思想。因此,他的这种"思想性误读",与其说是出于林纾营销策略的考虑,莫如说是其文化心理结构的自然显现。

Lin Shu and novels translated by him play an important role in history of Chinese literature. In addi- tion to the externally social reasons in the ear that make the novels translated by Lin Shu ＂the best sellers＂ in the later Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, the most crucial can be attributed to his excellent writing style in translation and ＂ideological misreading＂ with the unique characteristics of Lin~ style. The ＂ideological mis- reading ＂ in the novels translated by Lin originates from his views on the communication between the Chinese and western literature, and also his contradictory ideas emphasizing both ＂fusion of western style into Chinese ele- ment＂ and ＂fusion of western element into Chinese style＂. Therefore his ＂ideological misreading＂ is more the natural exhibition of his cultural psychological structure than the intentional choice out of his marketing strategy.
