中英大学生学术论文中转述动词及立场表达对比分析 被引量:26

Reporting Verbs and Stance Expression in British and Chinese Undergraduates' Essays

摘要 本文基于两个小型语料库,考察了中英大学本科生学术论文中高频转述动词的分布、结构和立场表达的特点。研究结果表明,中国和英国大学生在引用中倾向于使用不同的转述动词;英国大学生转述动词的使用结构相对更具有多样性;在立场表达方面,英国大学生意识更加鲜明,中国大学生没有使用表达消极立场的转述动词,倾向于用中性动词表达积极意义,写作中有较多对来源文本原话不加诠释的"背诵式"引用,较少出现或不出现对前人研究的批判性分析或质疑。本研究对学术英语教学具有一定启示意义。 Based on two small-scale corpora,this study examines the features of frequency,structure and stance of reporting verbs in Chinese and British undergraduates' academic essays.It is found that:(1) Chinese and British learners tend to use different reporting verbs;(2) Structures of reporting verbs in British essays show more variety than those in Chinese essays;(3) British learners tend to express their stance explicitly,while Chinese learners tend to use neutral verbs to express positive stance,using direct citation without any evaluation,and are not likely to express negative stance.This study is of importance to EAP(English for Academic Purposes) teaching.
