人们对于自然一词的理解都会受到自身文化传统的深刻制约,而且这种理解,对于产生亲自然或反自然的态度和行为存在着密切关系。在农业文明中以象形文字为基础形成的中国生态文化,是人与自然和谐相处的历史根源,而作为西方工业文明源头的以拼音文字建立起来的希腊理性文化,则是无根的,与自然疏离的,在发展过程中容易引发反自然的行为和后果。为了恢复人与自然关系的和谐,现今人们应该以中国生态文化传统作为建立生态伦理的文化根基。

In order to restore the harmonious relations between man and nature, nowadays we should take Chinese traditional ecological culture as the cultural root of ecological ethics.
