基于功能翻译理论探讨出租车公示语的英译

C-E Translation of Public Signs in the Taxi from the Perspective of Functionalism

根据功能翻译理论,翻译是一种有目的的交际活动,它化解了语言文化障碍,使跨文化交际行为得以顺利完成。以我国某市的出租车公示语为研究文本,发现其译文存在语言和语用两方面的误译。通过对比中美出租车公示语,笔者建议,一方面,译者需要用全方位、多角度、多层次的思维方式审视问题,提高自身的翻译实践操作能力;另一方面,相关监管部门可以结合我国国情,并同时借鉴国外出租车公示语的翻译方法,使出租车公示语的英译文切实起到跨文化交际的作用,避免误译现象的发生。

According to functionalism, translation is a communicative activity, which could guarantee a successful commu- nication across cultures. In the paper, the author studies the public signs in the taxi of a certain city in China, and finds out that there are two types of translation errors ： linguistic and pragmatic errors. By comparing the public signs in the city taxi con- cerned with those of an American city, the author offers the following suggestions ： On one hand, translators need to have a comprehensive look at the targeted material and improve their ability of translation; on the other hand, the relevant regulatory authorities should borrow from the public signs in the foreign taxis, combining with our national conditions.
