从科学、技术与社会的视角看,科学、技术与公共政策(STPP)是继科学社会学、科学知识社会学之后出现的研究热点和主流。STPP研究已经显露出自身的特点。在基本立场上,坚持对科学技术持审度的立场,对公共政策持平衡的立场,在"科学技术为人民服务"的宗旨下融合科学与人文。在方法论上,主张实践导向、方法集成、地方特色和反身张力。STPP已经形成了特有的研究内容、问题和文献,但还有待进一步发展成熟。

From the perspective of Science, Technology and Science （STS）, Science, Technology and Public Policy （STPP） is a new hot research field which is moving into the mainstream after Sociology of Science （SS）, Sociology of Scientific Knowledge （SSK）. Though a newly--emerging field of research, STPP has shown some distinctive features of its own. As far as basic standpoints are concerned, STPP insists attentive deliberation to science and technology, balance in public policy, fusion between science and humanity under the principle of ＂Science and Technology for the People＂. In terms of methodology, STPP strengthens practice orientation, approach assembly, local characteristics and self-reflective tension. Although STPP has developed its unique research contents, issues of study and literature, it still leaves room for further advancement.
