To strengthen the operational satety management and supervision of urban waterworks in China, the related government departments should build a supervision system for water source manage- ment, water quality monitoring, emergency management, information opening and so on. A general eval-uation system should be built to ensure the safe operation of urban waterworks. The status and problems in operational safety management of urban waterworks in China were introduced. The key parts of the op-erational safety management guarantee system of urban waterworks were analyzed. Advice for building the system was given for reference.
