Objective To study effects of cognitive function training on the cognitive ability of patients with mild Al- zheimer's disease.. Methods 39 patients with mild Alzheimer's disease over 65 years old were selected. In the acceptance of routine drug therapy, a 12 consecutive weeks of cognitive function training was added. Then Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Activity of Daily Living Scale (ADL) were used to assess the effects. Results After 6 weeks of cognitive function training, cognitive ability of the patients had improved, but the MMSE scores and ADL scores did not change significantly. After 12 weeks of cognitive function training, MMSE score and ADL score were significantly improved ( P〈0.01 ). The difference was statistically significant. Cognitive ability of the patients was improved. Conclusions Cognitive function training on patients with mild Alzheimer's disease was effective to improve cognitive ability.
