日本女作家高桥多佳子的小说《相似形》以一对母女之间细腻而复杂的感情为主线,探讨女性处于被男性规定的性别角色之中,却失去自我主体意识这一问题。高桥多佳子在小说中呈现出女主人公从对女性角色的认同,逐渐意识到女性受压抑的地位,进而又产生对母性角色的嫌恶这一心理变化过程,揭示男权话语遮蔽下女性的生存真相,透露出对女性命运的忧虑。
