简·奥斯汀是19世纪英国文学史上杰出的女性作家之一,她擅长通过生动的对话和语言描写来体现人物性格。《理智与情感》是简·奥斯汀出版的第一部小说,是文学史上不朽的丰碑。本文试图通过对比《理智与情感》中埃莉诺与玛丽安娜两姐妹的相同点和不同点,揭示理智与情感二者的平衡在当今竞争环境下的重要性。
Jane Austen is one of the most outstanding female writers of British literature in the 19th century. She is good at reflecting the characters＇ personalities through vivid dialogues and verbal descriptions. Sense and Sensibility, the first published novel of Jane Austen, is an immortal monument in the literary history. For almost two hundred years, many scholars, home and abroad, have studied her works from all aspects： her feminine point of view, marriage concepts, and realistic method, etc. Through the comparison of Elinor and Marianne＇s similarities and differences in Sense and Sensibility, this paper tries to reveal the importance of the balance between sense and sensibility under the competitive environment nowadays.
