The classic Journey to the West is a famous novel containing the Chinese traditional culture , customs and religions . The paper discussed the translation of ages in the English version Journey to the West translated by Janal from the perspectives of naturalization and alienation. The aim is to study the translating strategies and policies adopted in the translation of Journey to the West. The paper argues that there are some problems about the translation of ages which needs to be discussed.
