The paper mainly introduces how to use colors to storage quaternary data, and the advantages of using optical signal as medium of information. It also defines the quaternary algorithms and introduces how to use the storage format for quaternary or binary communication and control. Finally, the paper introduces some important applications of quaternary in engineering technology, and summarizes the essence of data storage, so that it provides a powerful foundation for using other ways to realize data storage in future.
