吴贻芳是中国近现代教育史上杰出的女教育家,中国第一位女大学校长。吴贻芳担任金陵女子大学校长达23年,将金陵女子大学发展成为一所颇具办学特色的女子高校。吴贻芳在长期的教育实践中形成了深刻、独特的高等教育思想,体现在:"培养健全人格,造福社会"的办学观;"全面发展的女性人才"的人才培养观;"民主严格、适应女性特点"的教学管理观;"尊重差异、以生为本"的学生管理观;等等。研究吴贻芳的高等教育思想能为当今的高等教育改革和发展提供一定的借鉴和启示。

WU Yi -fang is an outstanding woman educator in the history of Chinese modern education and is the first female university principal in China.
