Values,Reasons and Consequences:An Interview with Professor Peter Railton

彼得·雷尔顿(Peter Railton)是美国密歇根大学(安娜堡分校)哲学系教授、美国哲学学会中部分会主席。自20世纪80年代以来,他在伦理学和科学哲学领域发表了一系列领先的论著。在本采访中,雷尔顿教授就元伦理学的学科属性、实践理性的本质、道德心理学的视域和方法、后果主义的基本关切等问题进行了分析与探讨。

Professor Peter A.Railton is the John Stephenson Perrin Professor at the Department of Philosophy in the University of Michigan.In this interview,Professor Railton offers some insightful comments on his own works and other prevailing philosophical trends.The topics he talks about include almost all fields he is working,such as meta-ethics,normative ethics and moral psychology,among some others.In detail,Railton explains why he is a moral realist,why moral realism of his version is attractive,why consequentialism is a promising normative perspective,why a more comprehensive approach in practical reasoning is plausible than some Kantian one,and how to engage in moral psychology.Most inspiring,he also offers some methodological suggestions to Chinese students and philosophers who are working on analytic moral philosophy.
